"A little learning is a
dangerous thing"

"Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, invoked the ancient [Mayan] jaguar goddess Ixchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also "the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you -- because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools."

Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!

It seems that the "climate science" mask of the Earth worshippers is starting to slip. When the data doesn't support the claims, forget about science and appeal to the moon goddess instead. But the agenda was never really about climate anyway, was it?

Christina Figueres is from Costa Rica, home of the U.N. University for Peace and the Earth Charter Initiative, both of which were chaired by socialist billionaire Maurice Strong, the radical godfather of the UN environment and sustainable development programs. See our article "The Earth Charter and the Ark of Hope" for more information.

Two centuries ago when the Humanist/Socialists enthroned the "goddess of reason" during the French revolution (1793), she presided over the subsequent Reign of Terror and the bloody massacre of tens of thousands who opposed the utopian "new era" of equality. Has anything changed?

"The result was a policy through which the state used violent repression to crush resistance to the central government. Under control of the effectively dictatorial committee, the Convention quickly enacted more legislation... the Law of Suspects was passed, which authorized the charging of counter-revolutionaries with vaguely defined 'crimes against liberty'... The Terror became identified with ruthless, centralized revolutionary government. The economical dirigiste program didn't solve the problems. Suspects' goods were confiscated by the Decrets of Ventose (1794), in order to prepare for the redistribution of wealth..."

According to Ottmar Edenhofer, German economist and official of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change:

"Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization. The climate summit in Cancun at the end of the month is not a climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War... One must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy... One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy."

UPDATE: Lord Monckton of the U.K. who attended the Conference has written extensively about the proceedings and what the eco-socialists intend to achieve.

"Notwithstanding the carefully-orchestrated propaganda to the effect that nothing much will be decided at the UN climate conference here in Cancun, the decisions to be made here this week signal nothing less than the abdication of the West...

How did this monstrous transfer of power from once-proud, once-sovereign, once-democratic nations to the corrupt, unelected Secretariat come about? The story begins with Sir Maurice Strong, an immensely wealthy UN bureaucrat from Canada who, a quarter of a century ago, established the IPCC as an intergovernmental, political body rather than as a scientific body precisely so that it could be maneuvered into assisting in the UN's long-term aim, reiterated at a summit of senior UN officials this May by Ban Ki-Moon himself, of extinguishing national sovereignty and establishing a world government."
